Moving can be a rather daunting undertaking, and moving to another country can be even more overwhelming. But by having a good plan and a thorough to-do list, it becomes much more feasible. I know it helped our family a lot when we moved, and I hope my experience can maybe be of some help to you.
Life in Ireland
The Emerald Isle or Ireland is a country famous for its green hills and abundance of rain. But this country is so much more than Guinness, sheep, and pubs. It has a rich history, and its people are warming and welcoming to anyone that crosses their paths. And our life in Ireland is only just starting.
When I was still a little girl, I wished that one day I could visit this green isle. Years later, I would finally visit this friendly island while on my honeymoon. We used the bus to go from town to town, and the more we saw of Ireland, the more we fell in love. We knew there and then that we wanted this to be our home. We had known for a long time that we wanted a proper kitchen garden and a tiny little cottage as our home. We also really wanted some hens for eggs and some sheep for wool. And while riding on that bus and we saw the fields flashing by. We could just imagine what our little home would look like and the landscape it would sit in.
We’ve taken the first step towards that little cottage of ours, we moved to Ireland. Now multiple of my friends have moved from one country to another one, but none of them had ever tried it with two children and no family or friends in their country of destination. But our life in Ireland is taking shape now and we are feeling more at home with every passing day.
So let me tell you what is Ireland like?
Covid-19 while living abroad
This past spring, the Coronavirus appeared out of seemingly nowhere, it all happened so quickly. Just 2 weeks before we planned our trip to see our family, lockdown happened. We didn’t worry too much about it because we thought that it would all be fixed in a matter of weeks, maybe 2 months tops. But it went completely differently.
Can you drink Irish tap water?
Ireland is a European country, and you would expect this would be a no brainer. When I first went on holiday to Ireland, I just assumed that I could drink the tap water. And it was only after we moved here and his colleagues were complaining about the water, that I even looked into it.
