Create with your hands
A simple life in a handmade home, where you harvest and cook real food

Hi, I’m Lotte and welcome to Sprouting Wheel.
Here I want to help you create with your own two hands. Because when we create we feel stronger and more confident.

I love creating things, whether it is a delicious from scratch meal, a hand-sewn dress, or growing plants.

If you want to learn how to cook food from scratch or create a handmade home then you are at the right place.

Because if I can learn all these things then so can you.

In 2019 my husband and I moved to Ireland with our 4 month old baby and 9 year old daughter. It was scary at first, but it was so worth it, we love our life on the Emerald isle. We now live in a lovely home with a big yard for the kids to run wild in and play. We grow vegetables from seed, ferment our food, brew our own wine, and slowly over time, we gain skills and expand our knowledge.

My love for handicrafts and creating things from scratch goes deep. I don’t really know or understand where it comes from, I only know it is who I am.

There is something so satisfying about shearing a sheep, then spinning its fleece into yarn to knit your daughter a jumper. Something that was nothing became something unique and special.

Your hands and your knowledge created that.
It is an amazing feeling, and I want to help you feel that same way.

To help you learn new handicrafts and create your own unique and special things.

To feel that satisfaction that comes when you know that YOU made that.

Some random facts about me

  • During a month-long lambing internship, I absolutely fell in love with sheep. I liked them before, but since then, it has become obsessive.
  • I started knitting because I loved spinning my own yarn but didn’t know what to do with all my skeins.
  • I love reading! But as a child, I actually was really bad at it, I only really started reading when I started reading Harry Potter.
  • I was taught how to sew by my mom when I was 9 years old but spend my entire childhood on her lap while she would sew.
  • I was a vegetarian for 7 years. So when I started eating meat again, I had no clue what to do.
  • A friend of mine and I once spend until 3 AM sewing matching shirts to wear to a festival. We woke up the next morning at 7 AM, we were knackered but proud.
  • I was the awkward kid at secondary/high school who would write stories during the break, standing in between the lockers.
  • When my eldest was 5 years old, I went back to college for animal husbandry and business.

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve had a certain dream, a vision that was undeniable and needed to be reached. And throughout my life, there have been moments that shaped this vision. Moments that gave me the tools to turn it into a reality. If you want to read about this vision that I have and how I’ve turned it and am turning it into reality? Then go to my vision page.
