From scratch food
Your daily bread should be nourishing and delicious, it should be wholesome and exciting, but most of all, easy and fun to make. The way I cook from scratch food, it’s easy and quick because as much as I love cooking, I don’t want to be cooking all day.
I love the moment you hold your produce in your hands and imagine all the dishes you can create from it. If you’ve been cooking from scratch food for long enough, you develop a sixth sense for knowing when something is ready. I often find myself already walking towards the oven right before the bell goes off without even realising. I’ve always relied heavily on my instinct while cooking, that is until my husband got interested in learning how to cook. He preferred to have detailed recipes, so I started to write down all the recipes for my dishes. Those same recipes I now want to share with more people.
So let’s create some delicious food together.
Delicious savoury cheese scones
These cheesy scones are perfect for when you’re feeling peckish. They are filled with chives and plenty of cheese. You can top them with a dab of butter or with some homemade cheese spread, or simply eat them plain. They are absolutely delicious either way, and these scones are super easy to make too.
Easy 4 ingredients homemade biscuits
I love a good biscuit with my tea, especially when that biscuit is a scrumptious buttery biscuit. This recipe makes delicious, not too sweet homemade biscuits that will enhance your tea drinking experience. Or eat them on their own you could even coat them in chocolate if you want an extra special treat.
Homemade pizza
Who doesn’t love pizza, I know my family and I love pizza. Its cheesy bready saucy goodness can make anyone feel better. And when made from scratch, it can be considered a semi-healthy dinner. Because it does contain quite a lot of tomatoes, and you can even top it with even more vegetables to make it somewhat healthier.
Honey cake with cream cheese frosting
When the sun is shining, and you can hear the bees buzzing, what better to eat than a slice of honey cake. This cake is ever so slightly sweet, which is perfect for those sunny afternoons where you just want something light. And topped with this tangy but sweet cream cheese frosting, it is sure to be very moreish.
Comforting cheesy cauliflower pie
Savoury, comforting cheesy goodness. This cauliflower pie is the perfect dish to eat when you want some comfort food. When I was just a small child, we would have vegetarian Mondays. And this pie was one of my all-time favourites. It has everything you could want: cheese, eggs, milk, pastry and cauliflower.
Quick and easy chocolate chip cookies
These cookies are a breeze to whip up, all you need is a spoon and bowl. My eldest regularly makes them all by herself, and only needs me to put them in and take them out of the oven. She loves them so much in fact, that she is already daydreaming about teaching her hypothetical children how to make them.
Gravy pie filled with mince and mushrooms
Gravy is the queen of sauces, it simply makes everything better. Proper gravy should be comforting and give a luxurious feel while you eat it. Just like meat pies so to create a mince and gravy pie is the perfect marriage. So I created this pie to be enjoyed during those days where you want a good hearty meaty pie with plenty of gravy.
Pasta with Bolognese sauce
My family’s absolute favourite pasta dish, this Bolognese sauce is easy to make in bulk. I love dishes that are easy to make in bulk because then you don’t have to cook the next day. It is quick to warm up while you’re cooking some pasta to go with it. Whether you serve it with spaghetti, tagliatelle, penne, or fusilli pasta, this Bolognese sauce will be a treat.
What is mead and how to make it
Mead is the nectar of the gods, it is pure ambrosia, and it is just plain yummy. In all honesty, mead is a type of wine made with honey instead of grapes. And just like with wines, there are dry meads and sweet meads.
There are also quite often flavoured meads, like cherry, vanilla, elderflower, and everything in between. So don’t worry, there will be a mead for you whether you like it dry or sweet.
