Quick and easy homemade bandana
This bandana is so easy to sew it doesn’t take any time at all to make. And by making it yourself you can choose whatever colour or pattern you prefer. Bandanas are always handy to have, whether it is to keep dust out of your hair or to keep your hair out of your eyes. And if your neck feels chilly or is easily burned by the sun, you can even wear it as a scarf.
Step 1: Find your bandana fabric.
Choose a tightly woven fabric, preferably cotton or linen, because these will feel cooler on your skin. If you want it to be very stretchy, you can use a knitted fabric, but I prefer the securer feel you get from a woven fabric. And of course, choose a pattern or colour you like.
Step 2: Cut your fabric.
Measure a square from 50 cm by 50 cm. If you want to be super precise, you can pull out a thread and cut in the line it leaves behind. This way, you know for sure that your bandana is straight.
Step 3: Fold and pin.
If you want to have extra crisp edges, you can iron the fabric while folding over.
Fold half a centimeter over and then half a centimeter over again so that the raw edge is covered. Use pins to secure your hemline.
Step 4: Sew the hems.
For speed purposes, you will want to sew it on your sewing machine, but it would definitely be possible by hand.
Just a plain straight stitch on your sewing machine or a backstitch if sewing by hand.
Step 5: Enjoy your bandana.
Either wear it as a scarf, a headband or however you like to wear/use your bandana. Please let me know in the comments how you like your new bandana.
